South Sudan Consumers Price Index, Press released

South Sudan has repeatedly experienced serious economic shocks since separating from the North in 2011. Moreover, over the last decade, South Sudan’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) (inflation statistics) has been generated from three major towns of the country, namely Wau, Juba, and Malakal. This information ultimately under-represents a vast majority of the country.
As a result, in August 2024, the National Bureau of Statistics extended the analysis to the seven (7) remaining states of the country, collecting more comprehensive data. Similarly, current recovery efforts in the economy necessitate a change in the CPI base year
