South Sudan Consumer Price Index for May 2025

Introduction

In this Release, the National Bureau of Statistics presents South Sudan’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) for May 2025. The Index covers the ten states of South Sudan.

Monthly Inflation
The monthly inflation rate as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) is 2.30 percent in May 2025, compared to 2.12 percent in April 2025. This increase resulted from a rise in prices of transport (10.84%), alcoholic beverages (5.06%), Recreation (3.45%) and clothing and information and communication (3.33%).

On the other hand, the commodities that had their cost decreased during this period include food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.96%), health (0.46%) and personal care and miscellaneous
goods (-1.55%).
