About the Southern Sudan Census 2008

The 5th Sudan Population and Housing Census was conducted in April-May 2008 as part of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) milestones. This publication focuses exclusively on Southern Sudan data collected during this census.

The census was implemented by the Southern Sudan Centre for Census, Statistics and Evaluation (SSCCSE) in collaboration with the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). It provides the most comprehensive demographic data for Southern Sudan before independence.
